Clean the parts before installing the universal coupling. After cleaning the parts, wipe off the oil on them.For couplings that are ready for operation in a short time, wipe the surface of the parts with some turbine oil or engine oil to prevent rust.For couplings that need to be put into use for a long time, they should be painted with anti-rust oil for maintenance.

  When installing, first install the two halves of the coupling on the two shafts to be connected, and then align the main machine, then move, adjust, and connect the shaft, and center the rotating shaft to the main machine based on the main machine.The determination is made by measuring the changes in the relative positions of the radial and axial directions of the two coupling halves during simultaneous rotation.

  10 points for attention when installing universal couplings:

  1. Clean the oil stains and dry the flange surface before installation. The flange connecting bolts must be tightened with a torque wrench according to the specified pre-tightening torque. The mechanical properties of the bolts and nuts are 10.9 and 10 respectively.

  2. For telescopic universal couplings with spline pairs, check whether the arrow marks of the spline shaft and the spline sleeve are aligned during installation to ensure that the phase difference between the axes of the fork bearing holes at both ends does not exceed 1°.

  3. In principle, both ends of the universal coupling can be used as active or driven, try to keep the spline pair away from the source of vibration or shock.

  4. Before tightening the bolts, the threaded part must be cleaned with detergent, and a little 242 glue should be applied, and tightened in a staggered manner (but not low-hardness washers).

  5. After the installed universal coupling runs for one shift with load, check whether the flange connecting bolts are loose, and tighten them again according to the specified pre-tightening torque. Repeat this for several shifts until the bolts are no longer loose.

  6. Long-term overload use and operation accidents of universal joints should be avoided, otherwise the service life will be reduced.

  7. The universal coupling should be sufficiently lubricated. The bearing part should be refilled with grease once a week at the beginning of operation. After it works normally, it should be relubricated once a quarter, while the spline pair should be refilled with grease once every six months.When filling grease, use new grease to squeeze out from the D-shaped oil seal until the new grease overflows.

  8. The universal joint in operation should be observed frequently: if any of the following phenomena occurs, the machine should be shut down for inspection, and the reasons should be analyzed for maintenance.

  (1) Whether there is any abnormal noise;

  (2) Whether the cross bag has axial movement;

  (3) Whether the radial runout is normal;

  (4) Whether the connecting bolts are loose.

  9. For universal joints in normal operation, the maintenance period is generally from six months to one year or is checked when the equipment is repaired.The items that should be checked are:

  (1). The surface wear between the cross pin shaft journal, the outer ring of the bearing and the short cylindrical roller, measure the radial clearance, and observe whether the contact surface has indentation, pitting, spalling, chipping, etc.If one of the above phenomena exists, it should be replaced with the maximum allowable value of the radial clearance.

  (2) Whether the spline pair slides flexibly, and when the spline teeth are worn out or the fit gap is too large, or twisted and deformed, they should be replaced or repaired.

  10. Appropriate safety protection measures must be taken in all places that may cause personal and equipment accidents due to the operation of the universal coupling.
